Jared and Keri came into town to visit! The kids had so much fun playing and enjoyed being together as cousins. The got to swim in the pool at Gradma's house and roast marshmallows over the fire. Aspen one night decided to empty Grandma's kitchen cabinets because there's always delicious treats she can find and coax Grandma to give her some. This time it wasn't the treats she was after. She just wanted to shut herself in the cabinet. That's it. So Rikel and I thought it would be cute to have a video of this. Rikel got the camera ready and I closed the cabinet door when to my surprise, it wouldn't shut. So I tried it again,......that's when I realized what I had done. My poor child's finger wasn't just being closed in the door, it was being pinched in the hinge of the door!!! She hadn't made a peep only because she wasn't sure how to tell me that I was killing her! As soon as I looked at her face there came the screaming!!! It was aweful. Her finger was gushing and blood was going everywhere. The once fun and enjoyable evening had turned into a complete nightmare! At least we got a few cute pictures before I destroyed the fun.

So if life is not crazy enough....today I got a new calling. I've enjoyed being in Primary for a couple of months because the 11 year olds that I have are so awesome. They are well behaved and always so good to listen and participate in class. I should've known things were going too well. lol. Today they dropped the bomb shell on me. I was released as a primary teacher and called to be the first councelor in the Young Women's presidency. I have mixed feelings about my new calling. I am excited about camp but I just really hope that I can do an effective job with the young women. I guess we'll see. On the up side, for Mother's Day Rikel bought me a new bed!!!!! Yay, no more 50 year old mattress. I finally will be able to sleep at night without coils poking me all over my body! I can't tell how excited I am. He also got me a new bedding set to go with it! I guess I'm spoiled! I love my hubby. He's so sweet.

If you have a weak stomach you should probably just skip this story. We've decided that if we have to be somewhere, we do not feed Aspen before we leave NO MATTER how hungry she is. You see she has this gift where no matter what you feed her and no matter how slow you drive, she will ALWAYS throw up all over her clothes, her seat and the car. I don't know how she manages to harbor so much puke but she does it. I tell ya, it's a gift. Not many children I know have this gift. When she vomits, it's not just a small amount that is easily cleaned. It means no going anywhere, turning around and heading right home. You think I'd have learned by now, but I haven't and so about 5 times now she hasn't had a change of clothes and we've had to endure the smell. This one particular time we were headed down the mountain to the stake center for a church broadcast. She was in her beautiful church dress and looking so adorable. Half way to our destination which is about 30 min into the hour it takes to get there, she exploded leaving mashed potatoes and milk covering the car. GREAT! She has no change of clothes, we're already late, and turning around will mean not going to the meeting. Well if it was me, I would have turned around, but my mother was driving and decided we needed to be there no matter what. We'd just have to smell the vomit till we got there and could clean her up. What was she going to wear? Well upon getting there we realized that she'd have to run naked because she had no clothes and we couldn't get her dress clean enough for her to wear it. Luckily.....we found an extra t-shirt that my Dad had left in the back of the car. It was a summit work shirt that fit my dad great, but Aspen.........well, not so much. I can't tell you all the sympathy stares I was getting. People must have wondered why we looked like such white trash.....EMBARASSING! Finally a sister, Sister Huey, saved my life. She just happened to be donating some clothes to a needy family.....hahahaha funy right, and happened to have a perfect sized little sunday dress in the back of her car. I guess she decided we were just as needy because she let Aspen wear the dress. THANK YOU! Finally the stares stopped and we could blend in somewhat minus the smell of puke that still lingered....oh well, what do you do?
Puppy is getting big too. Last week we thought we'd have a heart and give Smokey a bath. Poor puppy is an outside dog so his black fur has been covered in yellow pollen. Aspen has a small little plastic pool and so we decided to use it as a tub for the dog. Well, eventhough it was about 89 degrees outside, puppy wasn't too excited about the temperature of the water. Not only was he thrashing around soaking everyone within a ten foot radius, Aspen decided she wanted to join in the fun and jumped in. Those two are the best of friends. Aspen loves her puppy! So last night I guess puppy wanted to bring us a present and he left it on the deck.....it was a dead baby possum. Wow, what a sweet dog.
Just recently Rikel and I got back from a short trip we took to Atlanta. We definately needed some R and R. We went to the temple, stayed in a four star hotel, and got to see the Heat take on the Hawks in a playoffs game. The game was great except we were the only Heat fans in a sea of Hawks fans and the Heat got killed! Aspen stayed with her Grandma Barrott while we were there. It was the first time I have ever left Aspen over night and boy it was tough. I got teary-eyed and it started getting pretty rediculous because during the ONE night that we were away from her Rikel and I began pulling up videos of her from our phones to watch because we missed her so much. Needless to say Aspen had a great time at Grandma's. She played in the pool, ate tons of good food and didn't miss mommy and daddy one bit. Wow, I guess Rikel and I are just big wimps.
